Remove EXIF and GPS data before sharing.

Photos carry hidden metadata: GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps. This tool strips all of it locally in your browser.

Why strip metadata?

Every photo taken on a phone or camera carries hidden EXIF metadata: the exact GPS coordinates where the photo was taken, the camera model, exposure settings, and timestamps. Some platforms strip this on upload — many do not.

This tool re-encodes the image via your browser’s canvas, which drops all ancillary metadata (EXIF, XMP, IPTC, GPS) while preserving pixels.

Cleaner exports from iPhone?

Magic Retouch exports edits without location metadata by default, and never uses your photos to train models.

Remove EXIF — common questions

  • Yes. GPS coordinates and all other EXIF fields are dropped when the image is re-encoded.
  • Pixels are preserved. JPEG output is re-encoded at 92% quality, which is visually identical to the source. PNG output is lossless.
  • No.
  • This tool handles still images only.
